The Konoha Cryptanalysis Team (木ノ葉暗号解読班, Konoha Angō Kaidoku Han) or Konoha Cryptology Team (木ノ葉暗号班, Konoha Angō Han) is a subdivision of the Intelligence Division specialized in deciphering secret and ancient codes, messages, hieroglyphics and cryptography. Presumably inside the Intelligence Division building, their office is locate in a library with multiple books ad files. They work closely with the shinobi who lead the Konoha Aviary.
A messenger hawk sent to Konoha Aviary with a secret message scroll from Sunagakure was sent to Cryptanalysis where it was decoded by Yurika. After reading the scroll, she rushed to Tsunade informing that the Fifth Kazekage had been kidnapped by the Akatsuki.
During Pain's Assult, the Cryptanalysis Team were in charge of decoding the message Jiraiya had engraved in Fukasaku with the help of Kakashi Hatake and Naruto Uzumaki. Another team with Sakura Haruno and Shikamaru Nara were asked to decipher its meaning of "the real one is not among them", referring to who the real Pain is.
Trivia
- As the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki created the Analytical Study Team and their job is the same as the Cryptanalysis Team. Sakura Uchiha, Shikamaru Nara and Shizune as mentioned as members, however, it remains unknown if this new team merged with Cryptanalysis or are separate[1]. In Redaku, after Kakashi discovered a book written by Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki in an ancient language, he sent it to Konoha in the hopes that Shikamaru and Sakura would be able to decipher it.[2]
